Every once and again I catch a sports game on TV, or the sports report on the news and I’m baffled. Does anyone else notice how the players, and the management, and the announcers don’t ever really say ANYTHING. They talk, and the sentences I guess you could call english, BUT they don’t inform you of anything. They use words like “move the ball” and “we’re just going to go out there and do good things”. ?!?! It blows my mind. An entire billion dollar industry that is not held to any standard of language. Not that you should be expected to talk forever about someone moving a ball down a field. Have we demanded these people speak at great length about nothing? OR do they prefer to go on and on about playing a sport. From my experience it’s much better to play it than to talk about it. Perhaps there is a science to it.
